This is just a checklist for myself and to help anyone that is unsure about what to bring/use at their first competition.

Gear

  • IPF Approved Singlet
  • Weightlifting shoes (Adidas Powerlift 2)
  • Chucks (Converse)
  • Deadlifting socks (knee highs)
  • Knee Sleeves (IPF approved)
  • Sweatbands or wrist wraps (IPF approved)
  • Tshirt – White or black
  • Gym Bag
  • Small Towel
  • Resistance Bands for warm up
  • Tiger Balm
  • Water Bottle (2L)
  • Chalk or liquid chalk (if allowed)

Food + Drink

  • Red Bull
  • Water
  • Fruit (banana, melon, orange, strawberries, berries)
  • Peanut butter and chocolate sandwich
  • Tuna and chicken with rice and broccoli
  • Protein Bar
  • Chocolate bar
  • Lucozade

Other

  • Membership Card
  • Any forms that are needed for you to bring
  • Make sure you know what time your weigh-in is etc
  • Passport or ID
  • Money
  • Rule Book
  • Know your attempts, max goal, pin positions etc 
  • Double check the commands with the ref or meet organiser
  • Iphone (music)
  • Hoody to stay warm
  • Questions – ask any if you’re unsure & talk to other lifters.
  • KT Tape
  • Clothes to change into etc

I would add deadlift slippers if you wear them (I wear ballet slippers, as I can’t find DL slippers in my size (4))

Also, check your federation’s rules on apparel  e.g. for GBPF, you need to wear a t-shirt that covers your delts, but other federations don’t stipulate this.
