Oh my god, my heavy weekend came back to bite me yesterday, as I suspected it might. I felt fine all day, but once I started on my squats I knew I was in for a bad time.
Still, I managed a horrible 2 sets of 5 @ 80kg, and an even worse 2 sets of 3 @ 85kg. i was meant to do 3×3 @ 85kg but on the second set I knew I wasn’t going to get any more. I realise there’s that whole “suck it up, buttercup” mentality, but if I’d sucked it up I probably would have injured myself. There’s definitely a difference between pushing through something you don’t want to do, and pushing though something you can’t do at this time.
The rest of the session was:
- RDLs: 10 @ 40kg; 2 sets of 10 @ 50kg
- Machine rows: 3 sets of 7 @ 15kg each hand
- Yates rows: 3 sets of 7 @ 40kg
- Dumbbell shrugs: 3 sets of 3 @ 25kg
- Light upright dumbbell rows: 3 sets of 10 @ 5kg
- Glute & ham raises: 5 sets of 10
- Cable crunches: 5 sets of 10 @ 25kg
I am definitely not drinking again until after the competition. Plus I was 72.3kg yesterday, up from 71.6kg before the weekend, oops.
This Saturday coming the gym is closed for the BWL Southern Masters, but luckily coach is opening on Sunday for those of us competing at the Greater Londons later this month, so I won’t have to miss yet another weekend session!
I think I’m going to hit my other gym for a sauna this lunchtime, as I hurt today *sadface*
